Branson Missouri will soon have it’s own airport and that will make this Midwest destination even more popular and certainly easier to get to. Branson offers a variety of things to do for all age groups.
Here are a few of the attractions:
Amusement Parks: For an unique tale of the Ozark Mountain People, visit Shepherd of the Hills Homestead. It is celebrating 100 years of family entertaining this year. There are bound to be interesting things going on all over the homestead. You can visit with craftsmen and learn how things were done in “the ole days”. Enjoy the music and historical tours and don’t miss the 230 foot Inspiration Tower offering unbelievable views of the Ozarks. This homestead is based on Harold Bell Wright’s famous novel “The Shepherd of the Hills”.
Take the Branson Scenic Railway and step back in time. You will ride aboard restored 1940’s dome cars while enjoying the scenery. I hear that the prime rib is not to be missed!
Speaking of not to be missed is Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede dinner and show. This full scale production is set in a 35,000 square foot arena. You will experience the thrill of stampeding horses, long horn cattle and racing ostriches and pigs. There are amazing trick riders, dancers and singers and even the servers are dressed in costume. All put together to tell the story of America moving west.
Silver Dollar City: This amusement park is a world class park that has been voted the Number 1 amusement park in the world by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions. The 1880’s themed park offers six wonderful festivals yearly. There are 100 craftsmen demonstrating their crafts for the enjoyment of the crowds. You can take in 40 live shows daily. For the shoppers, there are 60 shops offering unique and unusual wares. You also have 12 restaurants to choose from. Plus all the rides! The newest addition to the rides is the Giant Swing which rises 7 stories in the sky!!
Ever dreamed of floating up the Missouri River on a glorious paddle boat? Then you should experience the famous Showboat Branson Belle cruising Table Rock Lake. You will enjoy the cruise and get dinner and a show too. The Branson Belle features a Broadway style performance by the Showstoppers, Acrobatic amazement by Elena & Vladim and laugh till you cry comedy by Todd Oliver & Friends.
In Summer time heat, the places to cool off are numerous. You can choose one of the two water parks in the area. The largest outdoor water park is White Water. You can also choose Splash Country Water Park. There are also three lakes to cool down in. You can water ski, fish and hiking is great.
Did you know the Ozarks were wine country? Neither did I, but it’s true. There are three wineries to visit and all three offer free tours and show you the winemaking craft. You can sample wines and talk to wine experts. Each also offers gift shops where you can purchase you new favorite wine. Make a day of visiting of the Ozark wine country: Stone Hill Winery, Branson Ridge Winery and Mount Pleasant Winery. Enjoy!
Branson also boasts of the world’s largest Titanic Museum. The building is even shaped like a ship. There are original artifacts displayed and includes replicas of the Grand Stairway. It’s not hard to envision the beautiful women in their gowns floating down that staircase.
Are you wanting to golf on your vacation? Branson offers several courses to choose from. Most are open year round and offer discounts for golfing after 12pm, multiple players and with some hotel packages. You will enjoy the challenge of these courses!
Branson is known as the live show capitol in the world and it is easy to see why. With over 52 theaters offering more than 100 shows, there is definitely something for everyone! Legendary stars and upcoming young entertainers will perform music from just about every style and era. Branson offers a variety of live shows filled with comedy, music, animals, acrobats, trick-riders, special effects, lumberjacks, pyrotechnics and water displays. The best thing about all of Branson’s live entertainment is that is suitable for all members of the family.
